Jump Start helps new players and coaches build confidence by focusing on fundamentals early. Instead of weekly practices, we provide hands-on instruction during games to ensure every player learns essential skills. We also offer grade-specific practice plans for volunteers who want to host additional practices.
Jump Start Day helps players, coaches, and parents ease into the new season. It includes two short practices led by Jump Start staff and a scrimmage, giving players a chance to learn our unique rules without the pressure of a full game. It’s a great way for everyone to get comfortable and get acquainted.
At this age, basketball and team sports are still new for many players. Jump Start uses tools like Jump Spaces, grade-specific rules, and on-court instruction from Be Elite staff to create an engaging learning environment for all skill levels. With a focus on real in-game experience and our “Just Play” philosophy, players build strong habits early and develop progressively from a young age.
Whether you’re signing up individually or already have a team, Jump Start is a great way for players to grow and make lasting memories. All players register individually, and fully formed teams can submit their roster to the market director by email, phone, or Facebook. Teams are organized by school district, so feel free to invite friends, and every registrant will be placed on a team even if there aren’t enough players from their school.
Admission/Gate
– There is an admission fee for spectators for every league day.
Who is my coach?
We do not have traditional coaches in Jump Start. We provide in game teaching and 12 games throughout our league and believe that learning through playing provides all players ample opportunity to improve. On Jump Start Day, our staff will request that each team selects a parent volunteer to sit on the bench, providing supervision and encouragement without coaching responsibilities—our on-court staff will handle all coaching duties. However, parents who wish to take on coaching roles in games and host practices are more than welcome to do so. Additionally, we provide grade-specific practice plans to support any coach interested in hosting practices.
When are practices?
– Finding volunteer coaches can be tough. To ensure that every player has the foundational skills they need to succeed, we provide hands on instruction during games in place of weekly practices. For parent volunteers that wish to coach and practice their group, we greatly appreciate and encourage them to do so. Additionally, we provide grade specific practice plans to any coach wishing to host practices.
At this age, basketball and team sports are still a relatively new concept in a young player’s life. With features like Jump Spaces, Grade Specific Rules, and On-Court Instruction from Be Elite Staff during games, Jump Start provides an engaging approach to teaching basketball that benefits players at all levels of experience.
